Wes & Tom's Gay Links

Note: Our e-Pals page has some wonderful gay links, though the page is not exclusively gay. We've moved most sites that have linked to us solely to that page to minimize redundancy.

Progress in the search for a genetic component for homosexuality, as reported in the February 3, 2005 [San Diego] Update

Bancroft Tower in Worcester, Massachusetts: a monument to two men in love (102kb).
So often the lives and loves of gay people fade into history. Check out one man's monument (built in 1900) to his lover of more than 30 years.

Living in the Bonus Round -- Steve Schalchlin's Online Diary has a really neat daily diary of a playwright who has AIDS -- and who shares lots of insight into his days. It's really quite fun, despite the sometimes serious subject matter. Steve's musical, The Last Session opened off-Broadway in October 1997 to rave reviews! There are now smaller productions around the country.

The Cool Page For Queer Teens! has many resources for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youth.

Paul Halsall's People With a History: An Online Guide to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans History is a virtual gay history book on-line that pertains not only to Europe but also to Asia, Africa and Latin America. Paul also has a helpful Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Catholic Handbook.

Queer, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered resources is a really good compilation.

Speaking of reading, check out gay author James Robert Baker's Web site. Wes had read Tim and Pete (Simon & Schuster hardcover, Penguin trade paperback) and was tickled when he and James met online via James' boyfriend. James' other books include Adrenaline (Plume), Fuel-Injected Dreams (Dutton), and Boy Wonder (NAL, Fourth Estate). His latest, Right Wing is available free in .PDF format.

Wow! After dealing with irrational homophobia with Priscilla, Queen of the Northwest, it sure is nice to see gay people treated as humans. Read this story about "Cambridge Police Department names first liaison to gay community". (It also includes two pictures of the handsome gay cop.)

PFLAG - Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays.
These people tell the truth about the gay people they know, providing a powerful testimony against the "family values" gay-bashing crap.

The Queer Resources Directory The Queer Resources Directory has a link to everything gay.

Human Rights Campaign Human Rights Campaign
Has a really cool feature where you put in your (U.S.) ZIP code and it returns who your congressional representatives are. Has biographies and where they stand on gay & lesbian issues. Lets you send an instant message to them.

National Gay & Lesbian Task Force
Has current gay-related news of national importance.

The GLBT Youth Resource Directory started by David Mariner.

The Advocate The Advocate
Gay & lesbian magazine.

QueerNet provides dozens of mailing lists for the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered communities. Many are adult-oriented, so discretion is advised.
